Grant Writing Services

I have been a professional writer and editor for almost 15 years, and my specialties include grant writing and nonprofit communications. In both freelance and full-time capacities, I’ve provided a wide range of development support to nonprofit agencies and LGBTQ organizations. In 2008-2009, I worked as a full-time grant writer for ACORN Institute, a national advocacy organization, where I completed several grant proposals per week, including government, foundation, and corporate grant applications; furthermore, as the Lead Development Coordinator, I supervised the grant writing process for a team of several people and conducted extensive prospecting efforts. Additionally, while working as an educator at South Carolina’s statewide LGBTQ advocacy organization, I also took on the role of a development associate. In that capacity, I searched for and completed a range of foundation and government grant applications, bringing in more than $100,000 for the organization over the course of a year.

In a freelance capacity, I’ve completed grants for a variety of organizations and causes, including foundation grants for a grassroots trans organization in South Carolina, federal grants for New York City’s LGBT community center, state grants for an organization serving trans people of color in New York City, and foundation grants for a local rape crisis center in South Carolina.

I typically charge $70/hour for completing foundation grants and reports as well as general development work (prospecting, research, etc.). For government grants, I charge $75-80/hour. “Rush rates” may be included for deadlines within 1-3 days.
